Travelmyth Cookies Policy

Many websites, including ours, use cookies, web beacons, and other similar technologies to enhance the user experience, gather data, and provide customized content—here's how they work:

Use of Cookies, Web Beacons, and Other Technologies

  • Cookies: These are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember information about your visit, like your preferred language and other settings. This can make subsequent visits easier and the site more useful to you.
  • Web beacons: Tiny graphic images embedded in emails or web pages, used to determine whether a user has accessed content. They usually work in conjunction with cookies.
  • Other technologies: Storage on mobile devices, pixel tags, local shared objects ("Flash cookies"), and similar tools that capture data that helps website administrators understand how their site is being used and how to improve its functionality.

Third parties, including platforms like Facebook, use these technologies to collect or receive information from our website and elsewhere on the internet. For instance, when you click on an advertisement or engage with content, these tools allow the advertiser to recognize your device and provide you with a more personalized experience.

Essential cookies

These cookies enable the functionality of our website.

Cookies and personal information

Cookies do not contain any information that personally identifies you, but personal information that we store about you may be linked, by us, to the information stored in and obtained from cookies.

Third party cookies

When you use our website, you may also be sent third party cookies. Our service providers like Google and Facebook may send you cookies. They may use the information they obtain from their cookies to:

  • track your browser across multiple websites;
  • build a profile of your web surfing; and
  • target advertisements which may be of particular interest to you.

Third party cookies after you leave our site

By clicking any link that redirects you to another site, the respective external website might set cookies on your device. You understand and accept that we don't control the setting of these cookies and we recommend that you check the provider's website for further information.

Use of Collected Information for Measurement Services and Targeted Ads

The information collected by third parties through the technologies mentioned above serves multiple purposes:

  • Measurement services: By understanding which content users engage with, website administrators and advertisers can determine the effectiveness of their online strategies (e.g., which pages are visited most often, how long users stay, and what content leads to conversions).
  • Targeted advertising: Showing users ads that are more likely to be relevant to them, based on their online behavior (for example, if you've been searching for hotels in Paris, you might see ads for Parisian vacation packages).

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyse the use of our Platforms. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users' computers. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website. Google will store this information. Google's privacy policy is available at: https://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html

More specifically, Travelmyth Platforms have implemented the following Google Analytics features: Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting, Remarketing with Google Analytics, Google Display Network Impression Reporting and DoubleClick Platform integrations.

Travelmyth Platforms use the above features to advertise online and to target interest-based advertising to their users and visitors. Third parties may show our ads on various websites. Travelmyth and third-party vendors use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together, in order to optimize ads based on someone’s previous visits to Travelmyth Platforms and to improve our website content.

You may prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics, if you wish, by using the Google Analytics Opt-out tool: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout/

Facebook Pixel

We use the "pixels" from Facebook on our website. This allows user behavior to be tracked and enables us to measure the effectiveness of Facebook ads for statistical and market research purposes. It also allows us to create "Audiences" and "Lookalike audiences" on Facebook to target and re-target ads. The data collected in this way is anonymous to us, i.e. we do not see the personal data of individual users.

However, this data is stored and processed by Facebook. Facebook may link this information to your Facebook account and also use it for its own promotional purposes, in accordance with Facebook's Data Usage Policy https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. You can allow Facebook and its partners to place ads on and off Facebook.

A cookie may also be stored on your device for these purposes.

You can object to the collection of your data by Facebook pixel, or to the use of your data for the purpose of displaying Facebook ads by visiting: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads

Opting Out of the Collection and Use of Information for Ad Targeting

Users who prefer not to have their online behavior tracked for the purpose of targeted advertising have options:

  • Browser settings: Most browsers offer ways to reject new cookies, delete existing cookies, or be notified when cookies are sent to your device. For example:
    • in Internet Explorer you can block cookies using the cookie handling override settings available by clicking "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy" and then "Advanced"
    • in Firefox you can block all cookies by clicking "Tools", "Options", "Privacy", selecting "Use custom settings for history" from the drop-down menu, and unticking "Accept cookies from sites"
    • in Chrome, you can block all cookies by accessing the "Customise and control" menu, and clicking "Settings", "Show advanced settings" and "Content settings", and then selecting "Block sites from setting any data" under the "Cookies" heading. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites. If you block cookies, you will not be able to use all the features on this website.
  • Online platforms: Services such as https://www.aboutads.info/choices and https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ allow users to opt out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting by participating companies.
  • Specific company opt-outs: Companies, including Facebook, offer settings and tools to control what data they collect and how it's used (e.g. Facebook Ad Preferences at https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=ads).

Deleting cookies

You can also delete cookies already stored on your computer. For example:

  • in Internet Explorer, you must manually delete cookie files (see https://support.microsoft.com/kb/278835)
  • in Firefox, click "Tools" > "Options" > "Privacy" > "Show Cookies", then click "Remove All Cookies"
  • in Chrome, open the "Customise and control" menu, click "Settings" > "Show advanced settings" > "Clear browsing data", then select "Delete cookies and other site and plug-in data" and click "Clear browsing data"

Again, deleting cookies may have a negative impact on the usability of many websites.

Always remember: while opting out might prevent you from seeing targeted ads, it doesn't mean you'll see fewer ads – they just won't be tailored to your interests.

It's recommended that you take time to understand these practices and make informed decisions about your online privacy. For more detailed information, consult individual platforms' or browsers' privacy policies and user guides.
